About
Elyssa Arde is a classically trained percussionist based in Markham and an emerging music educator whose artistic journey began at the age of nine with the drum set. What began as an early fascination with drums developed into a comprehensive pursuit of percussion performance, encompassing orchestral, chamber, and world percussion techniques.
She recently completed her Bachelor’s degree in Music Education, where she received the Russell Hartenberger Percussion Entrance Scholarship, studied under distinguished faculty, and gained extensive performance experience in a wide range of ensembles. These experiences include performances with the Toronto Symphony Youth Orchestra, the National Youth Band of Canada (2023), the Toronto Children’s Chorus, and Rouge River Winds.
Her performances with ensembles have brought her to some of Canada’s premier concert venues, including Roy Thomson Hall, Koerner Hall, the MacMillan Theatre, Markham Flato Theatre, and internationally at the Blossom Music Center in Cleveland, Ohio.
As both a performer and educator, Elyssa is committed to fostering meaningful musical experiences and promoting the role of music in diverse educational contexts. She brings a thoughtful, student-centred approach to teaching, and continues to engage in performance, pedagogy, and professional development as she builds a career in music education.
Throughout her studies and performance experiences, her passion for music has grown beyond performance, shaping her into an avid supporter of concert band and orchestral music. This enthusiasm continues to inform both her artistry and her teaching philosophy.
Aside from her musical journey, Elyssa enjoys photography and videography, video games, cooking, and fashion.
